I’m kinda miffed they stopped doing that thing in MK9 where the damage is persistent and you see the cuts, bruises and wounds last throughout the set, but if we had that and the Fatality quality from MKX/MK11 , we’d get the first Adult-Only rated game of this decade.

Only graphic and gratuitous sex scenes/gameplay will get a game an AO rating. No amount of blood and viscera is gonna do it if X rays and Fatalities couldn’t. It would not be a good idea for a AAA game to aim for an AO, since that would mean no major retailer in the US (and probably the rest of the world) would carry the game.

Maybe it is because I am not much of a game player, nor a big fan of horror movies... (I don’t enjoy violence, and shock value doesn’t shock me much... it just becomes gratuitous death for very little reason)

I don’t understand how violence and death is so acceptable.

I get that sexuality should be an adult topic, and not foisted on children who aren’t prepared for the implications and consequences. Teaching the birds and the bees and where little brothers and sisters come from is much different than exposing children to graphic material, and complex aspects of adult interaction.

But it seems that violence and death should be even LESS acceptable for children , and even disturbing for adults to engage in.

Violence and murder is not a normal function of life, but procreation is , and I don’t understand what is positive about glorifying violence and the worthlessness of an easily ended life for no other reason than a contest.

How can life be sacred if it is so easily and casually destroyed, with no consequence or even second thought? And repeated simulation is a proven training technique...

I understand Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum, and the concept of self defense... and to that extent, I can understand why people practice martial arts... for defense.

Blood sports are not self defense... and fictional blood sports seem like a thin differentiation from a mindset that is permissive of such wanton violence and death.

Blood and guts, sure... buy it for your kids to play in 4K ultra-high-def! ... but they had better not see the wrong bit of skin that might be suggestive, or hear a “naughty” word on TV.

Seems like priorities are way out of whack.
